I am looking for a new saw (at least new to me)
that would be used mainly to saw down the length
of logs. The logs are not big, usually running about
a foot in diameter. Had been using a Poulan with a 16"
bar but it has started acting up on me and I'd like
something with a little more oomph to it. The bar
length is fine at 16" and I have a Homelite with a 20"
bar for regular sawing. I am not married to any one
brand just want something dependable. I am open
to suggestions and would appreciate any advice.
This saw would not be attached to any kind of saw
guide like you see advertised. I do it freehand and
put my goodeye on it.
90% of the wood it would be used for is cedar.
Also I haven't tried ripping chain and was wondering
if it helps on this type of sawing.
Thanks,
