Need a wood ID please

Can I get an Id on this wood? Located in northern Indiana. It has fairly thin bark. Growth rings are pretty wide but it seems fairly heavy. Does not have that elm smell. Not quite sure. Poplar? Thanks

I was going to say some type of elm. Siberian has more brown heartwood.

Younger ones only have dark wood in center and much whiter bulk.

Looks like Pine. The growth rings are awfully wide for hardwood.

Looks like tulip poplar to me. Does is smell 'black-peppery'? If so then it's tulip.

@Del_ Does Pawlonia burn well? I figure not but have some bigger ones I'm felling. It's so soft. Cut through a 14" trunk with a machete in about 10 minutes just for "fun". Huge growth rings. That tree was only about 10 years old.
