Can I get an Id on this wood? Located in northern Indiana. It has fairly thin bark. Growth rings are pretty wide but it seems fairly heavy. Does not have that elm smell. Not quite sure. Poplar? Thanks

You guys are good.
The split peices look like Elm to me but I'll let the consensus decide.

Elm and ash hybrid. Lol

We are still talking about it?
Its american elm.
I didnt leave it up for discussion.

@Del_ Does Pawlonia burn well? I figure not but have some bigger ones I'm felling. It's so soft. Cut through a 14" trunk with a machete in about 10 minutes just for "fun". Huge growth rings. That tree was only about 10 years old.
