Need advice I'm gonna attempt to repair my uncle's Stihl 026.

Should i having never done this type repair before go short block or parts kit. He gifted it to me id like to fix it and offer it back to him.

Kinda vague on what's wrong with it. Assuming since you mentioned short block it doesn't run. Is it locked up, or just not fire up? Lots of things could be wrong depending on the issue it has.
