Hello all,

I enjoy all of the great information in this forum. I would like some help identifying this wild growing tree.

I live in Georgia, south of Atlanta in Coweta county. Our subdivision backs up to 400 acres of undeveloped natural woodland. Mostly pines but many other species of trees as well. I came across these flowering trees today. They are growing wild and I never noticed them until this spring when they began flowering. They are growing underneath much larger pine trees.

My first thought is dogwood but would like some confirmation if anyone can help me.

Thank you,

David

looks more like Malus angustifolia or southern crabapple

Thanks again.........I think the southern crabapple may be it. I forgot to mention that it has a very fragrant scent that completely
fills our yard with its sweet smell. I did not notice if it produced any fruit last fall but we have a lot of deer that come out of this part of the woods.
