whats up with people advertising a "new" saw for sale and it's clearly used? I mean if it's cut wood it's used right? Another pet peeve is when you look at a photo of a saw and the chain is hanging off the bar.

Maybe it's an eBay thing? I never see people advertising "new" saws on Craigslist.
I always loosen the chain when I'm done cutting for the day.

Well to be fair that guys trying to sell a craftsman chainsaw so he must be an idiot haha.
The chain stretches as it heats up sometimes even requiring tension adjustment after warm up. Once it cools it shrinks and puts stress on the saw. I could be wrong but it's easy piece of mind. Maybe it's more of a long bar issue.

Does it change if you buy it from a shop that starts it and tunes it properly and tests it in wood? Is this a bad thing for a shop to do? Now every saw they have would be used.
Every new car is driven off the car hauler and onto the parking lot.
