I can't imagine using a 490 with 20" in hard wood 15" on average. Hopefully OP is real good at sharpening chain.

Yep, won't be a problem with the amount of use this saw will get. I plan to get a 18" bar and keep the 20" for down the road. My uncles have a few husky 372xp's, stihl 460's, and a 660 laying around if I need to go bigger at the moment.
