Although I did get the timing backwards on this one and had to go back and correct it. I had 4 degrees retarted and took it to 4 degrees advanced. I was so convinced it took several people to get me thinking straight on it.

i will take a guess and say one is an A and one is an SA.

It's a red Craftsman 3.7 18, although it's now wearing a 20" bar and chain. It seemed a little low on compression so I started it up by priming it since it hadn't been started in months and was dry before I fueled it up. It ran okay so I shut it off and checked the compression and it showed 120 psi. I pulled the muffler and it was a two ring piston. Both the piston and cylinder were shiny so I couldn't guess which was chrome. The piston only had slight scarring at the top, above the top ring. Between the rings it was gold colored.

On both my 3400's plus the one I just repaired in trade for saws, the pistons above the top ring land appear scored. All had compression around 130 lbs so yours my just be he norm.

Have a look at the pics on this page and you will see the scoring as well as a comparison between thick and thin rings (pic)

load of S25DA's

My friend stopped by last night with a boat load of S25Da's (8) i have got 3 running so far, he also had two 655's a 7700 a 6000 and he left behind a 455 i ran the 7700 and one of the 655's but could not get the Dolmer to fire. maybe next time. Along with the parts, I got a few cool signs. The poulan pro sign is lighted! I couldn't stop smiling on the way home.
That's my oldest scrounging buddy. Got his first saw to flip today...lol. Anyone have any 315 echo parts?

Bore is 1.95". Or 49.53mm

Ok... Apparently I have a 4900 cylinder marked 5.2?
Bore is 1.95". Or 49.53mm

1.965 is the bore for a 4900/7700 from what I can tell. 1.845 is a 4200, 4400 and 6900. 2.065 is a 5200, 5400 and 8500.

10531 piston is indeed for a 5200, 5400 and 8500. I'll take 2, how many did you get?

23389 is a piston for a 25D 25DA 2.1 ci .

Tell me what kind of part 11564 is and maybe I can nail that one down.

I think the 3800 bore is the same as the 3700

Bore sizes
3400 = 1.810
3700 = 1.875
4000 = 1.935
