My 4000 had the wider plastic cover too. Always wondered about that.

Got it to cold start. Tuned a little. But she doesnt like restarting hot. I think I'll toss in a carb kit. It idles for 5 minutes with no problem, shut it off for 5 and it wouldnt restart but it tried.

Also check and see how good of a spark you have after it get hot and won't restart.

It should, just replaced it and its completely new.

Will check spark tomorrow, what am I looking for besides a spark? It's almost like its getting too much fuel on restart but I havent locked that down as I didnt take the plug back out. I just put it aside for the night.

1-1 1/8 on the L, and 1 on the H. I havent opened the carb yet.

Check spark on hot no start first, if that's ok, inspect carb. Did you clean and install a kit when you had the saw apart?

If, if no spark, try a different spark plug or see if it will jump a gap from wire and cylinder head, should be nice a blue.

No, PO said one was in stalled recently. Will check spark soon.

I'd recheck to make sure it was assembled correctly, I've seen them put together wrong.

And I've put them together wrong as well I admit. Darn kit came with so many gaskets I didnt stop to look at them correctly. I've learned a thing or two since then.

I've seen it before, wrong gaskets and gasket and diaphragm in wrong order, needle valve fulcrum arm bent too much or not enough, screen missing or torn up.
