Somebody on the FB group bought them as he was showing them off.

Yesterday, I picked up a Poulan Pro 5020AV (50cc motor) with a 20" Bar for $80!!, the guy bought it a year ago new and used it once to cut down a tree in his back yard. The thing looks Brand new and the chain is appears to be brand new as well.

Lines go bad in these quick. EPA ones that separate. So check them or just replace to save hassles down the road.

Just got done testing it out the Poulan Pro 5020AV, I'm not disappointed, but not impressed and is worth what a paid for it. She gets the job done, but does it Moseying along.
A guy I work for bought a Stihl MS261(50cc&20") that I use regularly and the only thing the Poulan Pro has got against the Stihl is the price, which is why(I assume) the most of us like/love these Saws.

However, my 3400 doesn't Scream like a Stihl, but has a Lot more Torque.

A PP4218 is driving me crazy. I hate strato saws. What are the carb settings. I've tried so many I've lost count.
Lightly seat both H and L needle then, 1 &1/4 Turns Out for both High and Low, from there Fine tune.

Not too sure on the idle Screw for a factory setting.

Posted in the "you suck" thread about a Craftsman 3.7 (Poulan built) that I picked up today. Seems my area is flooded with Craftsman saws. I guess it makes sense as there used to a half dozen Sears in a bout a 100 mile radius. Anyway, also picked up the attached Craftsman Roper built that runs with prime for 20bucks.Craftsman 3.7_2.jpeg

Yup, that’s prolly the 3800 chrome piston & aluminum bore, uses the fatty rings Poulan 530025933.

Won’t know for sure until you pull off the muffler cover, but they’re all great bucking firewood cutters.
Very few red ones that are 3800's. Almost all of them were grey.

Maybe sold up there in Canukistan Tim, but here in the USA there are a large percentage. A real sly product marketing gimmick at the time.

I was fooled twice in the first five red 3.7 part saws I purchased, until I made an excel spreadsheet of every Sears model number. That equates to 2/5...or 40%. Moved those two down the road.

I do have a couple of grey & black 3.8 ones, real workhorses for keeping the fire burning in the wood stoves!

Have never seen an OEM grey & black saw with a 3.7 or 4.0 thin ring top end.

Here t'is wiped down and pretty.
You're right, It looks decent except for some scratches on the clutch cover. Missing one screw shown in the second pic. Actually has still new fuel line and actually has the duckbill valve still in tact in the tank.

That confirms it. Looks to be in excellent shape & a well maintained saw too!

I leave the spark screen in because mud dauber wasps are always trying to put a nest in them!

Thin rings left, fatties on the right.

I wire brushed the screen and put it back. The exit for the exhaust on this saw is unusual. Seems like it could use a bigger hole and a pipe mod.

I'm seeing about the same in red 38's v/s 37's. I just rounded up and called it 50/50 chance of being a 3800 here.
