Man you guys in the states being able to buy saws on ebay gets me all bent out of shape sometimes. Part of living in alaska that sucks.

I did finally find the recoil spring on ebay for my Poulan 4200 counter vibe project so hopefully that gets here some time before the end of the month.

That is good news, it is a lot of saw and it will be fun to have it back running. The bad part is the wait, the sad part will be when a person can't find parts for them anymore. One day it will happen, I have seen so many parts that are now gone.
I almost parted this saw out. I originally bought it because a couple guys on this thread said they wanted it but of course as soon as I get it no one wants it.

I never thought I'd own a Mac....long story.....anyway I came across on old Super 250 in good condition, got it running, bought a few soft parts from the Mac specialist on this site, and now I have it on a garage shelf and admire it every time I walk by it.

Speaking of changing user names, is there a way to do that
I have no idea but my point was along the lines of what happens when some Mac's fall in your lap and you start taking a liking to them? Maybe if you can change you make it a Mac and Poulan chimera thing.

I got my first Mac for free. It’s a 10-10s that was locked up when I acquired it. I’m still overhauling it now. It’s kinda heavy and awkward, but I like it. I wish someone would make replacement cylinders for it. If I can’t change my user name, no big deal. I don’t know if I’ll ever part with my 10-10s, and I’m sure I’ll own other Macs at some point.

I had similar experiences with mac's and poulan. The first I had of each were junk ones and left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Then somewhere along the way I got good one of each , got them going and was hooked.
Still have my poulan 361 and Mac 10-10 lw.
Great saws.

I picked up a Dayton 2Z463B at an estate sale a while back that needed some parts. Well, a 2Z463 came up on ebay recently as a parts saw and supposedly was won then no pay relisted. So I watched it and decided to swing at it. It's not a parts saw....it's a runner! Still need a parts saw now...dang it. Very clean, doesn't show much use / abuse really with the exception of clutch cover repair. Put a new fuel line in the tank, a new valve in the fuel cap, and went through carb with cleaner spray.....runs really good and idles good so far. Had a 24" echo bar and chain laying around.

I was planning on doing the same thing with this Dayton but it's a good runner, too. I like Poulan green but they look good in all colors.20230210_165232.jpg

@pastryguyhawaii those are my 3 favorite colors....
My avatar Dayton is the orange version to your green countervibe. I dont have any Dayton's like yours in the non countervibe but I do have a bunch of the greenies.

Finally got the new recoil spring for the 4200 counter vibe.

So while I’m installing that I decided to go ahead and try repairing the fuel tank.

Hit it with a scotch bright pad on a die grinder followed with some JB weld. I was hoping to get it smoother, but I did apply the JB fairly thick so hopefully I can sand it back down smooth and the find paint that matches.

With how big the hole was, I was able to push the JB weld through pretty easy with a putty knife, and then spread it in the inside of the tank as well fairly thick. I hope it holds. I did do some more sanding and corrosion removal after that first photo was taken.

I'd suggest that you go ahead and seal the inside of the tank while your at it. I've had very good results from Red Kote which is available at most auto parts stores.

I'd second that. Jb is good stuff but in constant contact it can break down in time.

Well I'm fairly put out with a marketplace seller .....again. Found another craftoulan 3400 for $15 and naturally got excited. It hadn't been up long and I responded right away. All day, no answer and he had seen it. I hate to hound someone but I didn't want to miss out either so this evening I messaged that I was ready anytime. Again no response. Then 20 minutes later he marks it pending. I could just scream.
btw. I have no idea how half of this message came out bold. Must be my stellar tech abilities at work again! Lol
