I have two very beautiful Norway Maple trees that have overgrown my garage and patio. Now that the leaves have fallen (here in Maryland), I would like to prune the offending branches. However, I am concerned that pruning now might cause the trees to bleed to death. Any advice appreciated.

You will have some sap flow form the tree in the spring, but it would not be fatal (unless the ounds are huge)

It would be best to thin lower branches to stunt them instead of wholesale removal. Let the tree get used to not having that much carb production in those branches prior to removal at the trunk.
