Occupation/nature of tree work?

It seems that a great percentage of people on this site aren't really arborists, however we all work with trees in one way or another. I thought it'd be interesting to see what most of us do and how we connect with this site.

I'm a forklift driver in a factory full time and cut firewood for myself only at this point but maybe in the future will sell my extra if I ever get that far ahead. I love anything with an engine and have a lot of newfound enjoyment learning about saws and working on them, with much help from this great forum.

We also heat with wood and have a Kuuma Vapor Fire 100 with water coil/tempering tank for free hot water. Currently have ~38 cords C/S/S with another 5-8 waiting to be split/stacked. All hardwood.....mostly oak and black locust. This number will be going up though, as I have lots more oak to clean up. We only use between 5-6 cords a winter, so I'll be on the 6 year plan.

Well my main question was really what is it we do that links us to this industry?

For the most part chain saws, though there are some with their own agendas.

Ok to clarify, do you have a tree service, do logging, firewood business, farm or homeowner, landscaper, saw sales/service, etc.

The industry links me to the industry, I guess. I'm not into thinking of saws as toys, they mean work and not always very pleasant work.

I am the Woodsman on the Gurteen De la Poer Estate on Suir at the border of Waterford and Tipperary counties in south-eastern Ireland. We're on the Waterford side of the River Suir.
I maintain the woods, the forestries, the firewood, and the chainsaws. It is also a working organic farm(mainly for tax purposes), so I get to feed animals and chase them back into their paddocks on occasion. The Estate surrounds the old Castle De La Poer.

Anyway ,I am a welder at a farm equip. manufacturer.
Brother and i have been cuttin wood since we were old enough to run saws.
That was our heat for the winter.
I farm also,mostly cow/calf operation.
saws were tools then ,now play tools.

Arborist & landscaper. Running a landscaping/tree care and safety training company with my dad. On my spare time i gather firewood, milling, repair and maintain chainsaws and machinery, restore old tractors and american cars.

speaking of needing fixing. I have a Husky 350 I need to get up by you eventually. Ran great last year, won't start this year. Will pop off if you put fuel in the carb.
