My 041 AVEQ has a very leaky oiler where the snapring is out in front. Ive took the oiler out and checked the seal or rubbery thing and it looks like brand new. Would the fact that I am running 80 90 weight oil for bar oil be the reason why it is leaking. Also ive been seeing different horsepower ratings for the 041 did the power improve from the older ones to the newer ones or are they just lying Ive seen 3.7hp to 4.0 hp to 4.2 hp which one is the correct rating. thanx.

If you've got oil leaking out the front of the pump, then you either have a leaky seal or a hole/crack in the pump. Remember, that seal prevents airleaks and leaking oil into the crankcase. Don't fool around with it.

As far as HP, Stihl puts those figures out so they can say whatever they want. They can justify producing an old saw like that by updating little features and improving the HP. No doubt there were improvements--different intake, ignition, carby, muffler.
