Just checked the compression cold and when I pulled the plug it was wet with gas, so I'm thinking the problem is the carb needle isn't seating or the tank isn't venting? So i bet this is why she wont restart, because its flooding out when it sits. But 160 psi
It also idling a little high

All might not be that we'll after all.

The clean scratched on top are from me checking if there were deep scratched there, they are just where the carbon came off, but the other area looks kind of like crap but it just in that area and the ring looks OK.
This is under that area as the piston comes up.

I suspect the cylinder will clean up without a problem. A new meteor piston and new ring and find out what caused the scoring and you will be back in business. Even with a new piston, you still got a great deal.

Light scoring below the exhaust port. Bet it cleans up w/ muratic acid or sandpaper. Replace the piston...it has wear on it and look for what caused the saw to run lean. Air leak from bad seal, cracked fuel line...etc. Do you have a way to vacumn/pressure test the case to determine if your seals are bad ?

Looks like the cylinder will clean up. If not it's still worth the price of a top end kit. got one myself and these saws RUN! 13500 tnl factory 4.8 hp It's the saw all the cutting buddies want to steal.

So I'm cleaning up the cylinder and it feels a LITTLE pitted in those areas where the transfer took place. What's your guys advise, I'm sanding it out with 400 and 600?

Also when I cracked the cylinder screws they were definitely not that tight, so it may be possible it was pulling air in through the bottom and/or also the carb was too lean on the low side.
But this saw was not used that much because the owner said it gave him the problem pretty much right out of the box and the dealer changed the carb and it still gave the same issue and he just shelved it and reached for his White one lol

You suck. I have been looking for one of these for years. Even with a few pits below the exhust port it will still run a long happy life. Cylinders have plating imperfections and wont cause problems if in a safe area

Their not big at all, I'm gonna try some acid on a q-tip and see if it cleans it up, but it looks more like the NiSI is pitted? But very very tiny bit

Right that's what I was figuring If they are exposed aluminum

If u have pits don't use acid it will ruin the jug and peal the plating
What do you think of those marks? I thinking they will be fine, just want it to last long term though

Is there a big bore kit that can go on this saw if I have to change the entire jug and piston?

That jug will be just fine. I would give it a good sand with a split mandrel and some 180-220 and run it . I wouldn't even think about a aftermarket jug on a 262. I have jugs running several years like that . And they have perfect pistons still. Plus I'm sure a lot of the damage was caused by heat and being lean.

If the pits don't catch your nail put a new piston in and run her. Make sure you don't have a air leak anywhere. Keep a close eye on things for evidence of a lean burn first few runs or so. Something caused this to happen in the first place Make sure you have the problem fixed before you really put her to work.
