i just got a 262xp to play with and do some mods,keeping it a same CC size saw. but need a few things and want to know what other model huskys share the same motor and body/frame parts.

154, 254, 257, 261, 262xp.
Thats the family and the 262 is the biggest saw in that range.
Not much you can do to make it more powerful, it is pretty highly tuned stock.
search for a thread by Manual about rebuilding one and you may get some ideas.

Plus One on the thread by Manual. Well done, good read. Look inside the muffler and there is only one piece at the outlet you might remove and as far as doing without the base gasket, don't! There are very tight stock and about the best you can do is make a gasket around .015 but measure!
