I ported my brand new Kawasaki kbl27a weed whipper. Stock it was turning 7800 with 15" of line. Now it's turning 9000 rpm with 18" of line---modded the trimmer shroud also. That machine is louder than heck now and it really annoyes the neighbors

I pulled the spot welded spark arrestor out of my Honda 4 stroke strimmer's muffler and re-adjusted the throttle cable to ensure we were getting full throttle and couldn't believe the extra grunt and revs.
If you calculate out the open area of gauze, it's pretty damned restrictive, but even SWMBO commented on the change in the noise and go of the little beast (actually the comment went something like "what have you done to the brush cutter !!?? It's making a different sound and feels different, I think it's going to blow up ! " :monkey
