Porting Technic

[Ironworker]

Did a search and nothing came up, I was surprised. I've done a little porting but I'm looking to get a little more aggressive. I would like to see what guys are doing out there, I know there are quit a few guys out there doing this so it just aint the "saw porters" that can offer something to the topic, I'm sure everyone has little tricks that make it a little easier. Pictures would be appreciated.

What are the benefits of finger ports, if that's what those are or are they bridge ports.

Theoretically bring more charge above rings and direct charge flow to improve filling and exhaust scavenging.

Not done by me ,but this saw sure revs up nice .Have to run the piston backwards with this jug .These are fingers ,ones on Deets saw are bridge ports .

I use Emory cloth on a split mandrel

Sandpaper in a homemade split mandrel. I forget which grit.

I think it would help to get some small diameter burrs, it would make it easier to finish and get a good square corner. I don't have any small ones yet but I need to get some.

The round nosed 1/8" burrs are nice
