I have the POULAN PRO 295 and it only uses 1/4 to 1/2 tank of oil to a tank of fuel. I have even tried adding a small amount of kerosene to thin the oil and it don't seem to help. Is this normal or is the auto oiler defective?

I have worn out a couple of Poulan saws. The first thing to go is the oiler. Not enough pressure forcing the oil through. Piston and rings worn enough to where there is not enough pressure for the oil. Still runs good though. They are a disposable saw. If it is fairly new it would be something else. They are more or less made for the home owner who uses the saw a couple times a year. If it is fairly new the oil passage could be blocked, try kerosene or wd-40 etc. to flush it out. I hope this helps.
