Are these descent saws? I know it's a 60cc saw but that's about it. I'm heading out in about an hour to buy one that's brand new in the box for 200.00 obo. It's a b-day/early xmas present for my youngest brother who heats with wood. But for that price i don't see how i can go wrong.
If it's never been fueled and sitting for ~15 years, will the carb diaphragms and fuel lines be okay?

This begs the question (at least to me), when was the last decent Poulan made?

Well i'm sure that could be debated 50 ways to Sunday. Me personally, i don't own any and i wouldn't buy one for myself either.

But like i said, it's for my brother and he only cuts enough each year to get himself through the winter, if even that much. Yes, he's lazy as any man could be. Seeing as i don't have a money tree, i'm not buyin' him a $4-500 dollar saw to be used only when he gets cold.

Oh and seeing as the seller is asking 200 OBO, i'll see if he bites at 175.00 and then 180.00 before i offer up the full amount. :msp_biggrin:

Here it is, brand new in the box. The fuel lines were dust so i offered him $160 and he paused for half a second and said okay. :msp_biggrin: I got it home, checked the slug and it does look new other than a little brown on the top edge of the piston at the exhaust side, which i figure is from a factory run.
It's got Made in US stamped on the fly wheel and it was purchased in 1992. It doesn't have a hand break but who needs that anyway. It does run though, i dropped a little fuel in the plug hole and it fires easily. It has a mag case, adjustable oiler and surprisingly light for 60cc.

Anyone know what size fuel line an older Poulan uses?

You stole that saw. If I was you I would keep that and find him something else.

I have never ran one of the 60cc Poulans. I have 2 of the 50cc versions and have run the 330 Poulans and a 54cc Craftsman 3300 that I sold. (Miss that one). Those are great saws and believe me that saw will surprise you when you get it running good. I would have liked to run that 3300 Craftsman against a 55 Husky or similar Stihl.

Hope your brother isn't one of those guys who sells things cheap at the end of the month when he's coming up short. If he is tell him I'll give him $20 more than he's lookin to get out of that one. I gave my 28 YO son a Poulan Pro 330 for Xmas 2 years ago. Gave my good bud one for his house warming gift.

He better not sell it! i'd kill 'em (not literally). It's definitely for a good cause though because when he's cutting his own wood, that's less cutting i have to do for him
And I don't really need another saw since i have a 445, a 359 and a new 372xpw 75cc.
It's def getting a muff mod and internal baffle mod. I've got a spare 288 deflector that will fit perfectly on the right side of that muffler.

Any idea what size fuel lines those series saws use? It seems like there are two different sizes. One for the intake and one for the return to the duckbill.

lol shheeeet ,we'll see about that but i have my doubts.

I've never run a 359 Husky but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that Poulan would smoke it. My tri colored Craftsman/Poulan 3000 smoked a like new Stihl MS 250. Mine running an 18 his running a 16. Mines an old beater that I put together out of spares.

Since you are replacing fuel lines, make sure you find the tank vent. The old Craftsmans have the vent in a peice of line that just goes up under the aircleaner cover and just sort of hangs there by the impulse line. Its a little copper mesh plug.

This old 365 has a duckbill and it was in perfect shape stuck in the hole where it was installed ~20 years ago.

Beware, them caps (Oil and fuel) love to swell up, and make it a PITA to get on and off.

Other wise, Nice score!

Noted and thanks! Once i got the new fuel lines installed this afternoon after work, she was off n running on the 3rd pull.
I'll tell ya, the little booger has some nice compression. 155 lbs. cold and starts in one pull, cold :)

Awesome saw. You did great with that purchase. I have the smaller version of that saw, the 335. Mine was used hard but the internals are like new. Says a lot about the quality of these saws. This one spent at least a year outside under a tarp (with a bunch of other saws). All I did was a deep cleaning, fuel line and carb kit. I also pulled the jug, openedd ex. port and went without base gasket. You will like your new saw.

Can anyone help me with fuel line routing on the 365? I know that the back tank hole is for the vent and I think the front hole is carburetor inlet but not sure where the line from the right rear of the carburetor goes? Maybe pulse line?

Exactly the pulse line goes to the top of the carb. Use a good rubber line. 1/8 x 3/16 should do it.
