So are these worth the effort? I bought one for 50 bucks and I figured it would be better then a regular fireplace but not as good as an insert. Anyone have experience with these?

Looks like somebody spent some time tinkering with that one.

Never seen one like that. I hope it works well, but I wonder about it having enough surface area to really be a huge improvement.

Some is good, and better than none though, and it can't hurt anything for fitty bucks!!

Run it and let us all know how it works out.
