The new splitter is coming along well, should be done this weekend. My question is on the slide/pusher plate how tight to the beam does it ride?
It came with some sheet metal shim stock but did not say how to set it up.Do iI drill holes in the shims or just put them on either side and cut off the extra? thanks in advance. Kris

I just built the slide plate for my new splitter yesterday, it has a 1/8 to 3/16" gap between the bottom of the plate and the top of the beam. I think this should be enough to allow for grease, keep it from binding, and minimize the amount of debris getting caught under the plate. As far as adding the shims, I would drill holes through them to ensure that they wouldn't come out.
