I restore old Honda CT70s For the engine cases
1. Clean in solvent to remove most of the oils.
2. Wash in HOT soapy Joy
3. Sand and Scrape. (not too much really)
4. Another bath in Hot Joy (kinda sounds fun dont it?)
5. Etch with oven cleaner or Castrol Super Clean about 5 mins. Rinse
6. Dry with a heat gun so hot cant hardly touch it.
7. Apply Silver Brake Caliper Paint (Napa) while still hot.
That paint goes right into the "pours" of the metal, never comes off!

Nice I am afraid to ask the local dealers here... In japan everything is four times to much.
is that a lacquer, and enamel, or a polyurethane?

It doesn't say on the can, but it does recommend an enamel primer for bare metal.
then its enamel....can't spray lacquer over enamel unless its been baked until fully cured, anything else will cause a reaction
