Just wondering what are your best references for when somebody asks for them.
Mine are;
owner of large local lawn mower shop
owner of very well known local estate
owners of very well known local deli
husband and son of US Congresswoman

Depends on what you are trying to get into. At your stage in the game any referance is good because you dont have all that many jobs behind you. As you progress then maintain a file of referances to use on like jobs. An estate may seem impresive to the small cottage owner, but will it realy reflect how you can address this persons needs?

I have an aquaintance who keeps smoe before and after pictures in his truck with client letters.

I would think that the quality and type of work you do is more important than who you do it for. When I'm bidding on a huge oak over someone's house, the fact that I trimmed trees at Shaq O'neil's house isn't as impressive as photos of me in huge trees over houses.

Ooops, I wasn't name dropping, was I?:eek:
