I have a 990 apart till I find a suitable piston too on bring it back too life.
I'm by far no expert and you may have looked into this already, but did you see if a remington pro 88/pro 88G piston would work? Also guys have said some of the homelite and remington stuff can interchange. Not sure if it helps or not, just those saws are so rare that I would love to see another one resurrected. Good luck on your saw @Yukon Stihl.

Pretty sure I've said here multiple times a Pro 88 piston works in the 990. I know because I have one in mine. The 88 piston is windowed but that doesn't seem to affect it at all.

There was a sweet pro 88 on eBay a few weeks ago I almost bought just to get into the 100cc club. 250$ plus shipping and it was a strong runner based on the video included in the description. Wasn't sure if the bendix scintilla coil or not.

Gonna run my pl5 and super 660 tomarrow to see how they do. I bought a wards/sl9 for the wife last week she was excited and we called it the bumblebee saw long story short thing was toasted. Any pics? I'm curious on the Wards saw. Thanks!

The duck bill needed to be replaced as it would kill every bug in the hood. I have not run it since I replaced the duck bill but is a very strong runner.
That has kept me from acquiring the automatic oiler versions. I'm not that smart yet on saws, but was thinking that the manual oiler ones don't have a duckbill? Someone more knowledgeable can correct me on that. The more I know the better off I will be for sure. Thanks!

Anyone know if pl4 clutch shoes would fit a pl5? Thanks!
Different assemblies. PL4 is 2 shoe. PL5 is 4. Stick these in your hip pocket for future reference.
