I bought an aftermarket coil thay said it was for the 200t and the plug wire is an inch and half too short. Can I chop the old wire and splice or is that a bad idea? I notice the insulation is very thick.

Splicing a plug wire can work, but it's weaker than a normal wire, and more likely to short/ground to the saw body.

X2 for putting the old plug wire on the new coil.

The **** you can learn on this forum amazing! That would have really simplified the new coil install to start with should have asked on here first. Unless of course the wire is bad.
Thanks so much!

Spliceing on a length works but should be avoided.

I ruined two Homelite 'C' type coils by ripping out the plug lead. Now on them I splice. Use a shortened butt splice (overlap the steel core) and insulate with a length of rubber fuel line. Use lots of liquid tape.
