The first part is not true. I have used many lawnmowers with a clutch to engage the blades.

Well that is a big topic there. Push mowers rarely have a clutch, but like I said, a big topic...

Most mowers do not have a blade brake clutch. Typically higher end pro bagger models for emptying the bag frequently without having to restart. Still advisable to pull the plug wire on such models.

As for the chainsaw starting on the shelf, does that contain one of those starting systems that "stores" energy from the pull cord and then releases it later in the pull to increase starting force? If so maybe users of this should take note, but the standard pull starting system should disregard...
