I've seen several pictures in here showing clean saws with no sap or burned chunks of sappy wood etc. I now clean with a stick and a brush but the brown stuff stays. I doubt gasoline is good for the finishes and I believe brake cleaner wil also damage the finish. Not that I want to wash and wax a saw like a Harley, but it would be nice to know what people use to clean off the build up of gunk. I suspect kerosene may work ,but what have you used with good success? I'm looking for things that have proven to work well over time. Suggestions please.

Thanks!

"Clean" sawz are for girls...

Just blow the big chunks off with compressed air... Other than that... I've never cleaned a work saw...

The old saws that I've "restored"... I've always used "purple power" cleaner. Works awesome.
