Great info Mike. Keep it coming. Few people really understand how a chain works in the wood. Even fewer understand what would cause it to work poorly.

1 "mil" is 1/1000 of an inch.  I think you're referring to "mm" (1/1000 of a meter), right?

Hi Glens, Mike is right, you have to run thin to win. Sorry about the metric screwup. LOL
I think the BRC is more remedial than curative. The best is when 1.3 bar wears enough to fit a 1.5 mil chain.

Your theoretical situation is impossible. Butch never sharpens his chain. Why would he need to? It was sharp when he bought the saw and they only get dull if you cut something other than wood. This would take a miscalculation or a mistake and we all know Butch never makes a mistake.......And why would he......I trained him!:D
