Well, I needed some lumber for a project coming up, so it was time to crank up the BSM!

I have a plan for those 4x6's, I'm going to try to get to it this week.

Turned 71 today, so the wife and I went for a hike up Anthony's Nose. It is across the Hudson from Bear Mtn and has nice views. Had not been up there for a long while.

Also used my new cell phone today (to take pictures), still have not made any calls with it. It is a Motorola Edge 5G UW. A little large but seems good.

Congrats on 71! In front of me by a little bit. Nice pics, not sure my knees would allow that.

I was also looking through my hunting syllabus today and it became obvious that the Democrats are in charge of this State.

I see they have an early antlerless season scheduled for bear!

I suppose next year they will have a point restriction on Jackalope!
Do you have a link to that or can somebody get a screenshot of it?

Another great day of repairing stuff with my son. He had bought both of these oldies from his great aunt for bargain prices so we did new wood all around. (All of the “new” wood was scrounged wood.)IMG_1084.jpegIMG_1086.jpegIMG_1088.jpegIMG_1091.jpegIMG_1095.jpegIMG_1102.jpegIMG_1106.jpeg

What do you think @Philbert? Maybe this one still has a little life left?
IMG_1104.jpeg I enjoy teaching him, hopefully he retains some of it.

Good to keep them in the family. Lot of memories to pass on. That second boat looks a little tippy. No keel? Still, it would a nice little back water duck boat. Kudos to your son for doing the hands on work. Not may kids know how to do things like that.

I think it's more about them actually experiencing it rather than remembering how to do it. Once they've done some projects like that, it builds confidence that they can do it again or other projects, even if they don't remember everything.
He's fortunate to have you to take the time and build him up in this way, that's what more parents should be doing :numberone:.

Happy Birthday Mike. You got me beat by 10 months.

Yesterday I took care of that large Ash tree that fell across the roadway. I got out my 394xp with the 36" bar and laid that tree to waste. It is all bucked up now

At the risk of sounding old, our days of finding Ash trees like that are likely behind us. I've cut several nice dead ones (30" +/-) into firewood over the past few years.

The Ash on my upstate property is still alive, but that area was logged in the past and if you find one over 20" it is a big one. But since it is woods, they are straight and tall.

NYC-DEP owns the adjacent watershed land next to the Cannonsville Reservoir and they hired an outfit to come in and cut down all their Ash trees, and they just left them there! Talk about government waste!

My trees are higher up, and it is the cold that gives them some protection, so we will see if they can beat this stuff.

I have not sat in that one yet, but can imagine it would be a little bit tippy because it’s got a rounded bottom and it’s short. We did put a transom on it in case we want to use it with a motor, but I can imagine most of its life will be used for retrieving ducks from a beaver pond.
