.338 or .375both excellent choices!I have always been a proponent of using enough gun....these armchair quarterbacks on the internet brag about one shot kills on elk and larger game with a .243.
Is that possible? Yes. Is it prudent? IMO no.
My dad shot his 9-6 kodiak with a .338 win mag. Took three shots and still took 45 minutes to die because even with a broken shoulder, it made it down into a brushy thicket and all they could see was the outline of the bear balled up and couldn't determine head from tail. Talifson's jr guide told him that if you shoot the ball, it may piss it off enough to charge us.
Under perfect conditions it does not take much to kill game. But when do we have perfect conditions? Not often.
If I was hunting brown/kodiak/grizzly I would carry .300 mag minumum but preferable .338 or .375.
.300WM minimum? Wise policy!
