Shindaiwa 488 w/fixed jet carb

So I just got my 488 running and noticed during the rebuild that the muffler is pretty restrictive, but this one has a fixed jet carb.
Is there a different carb available for this saw or is there an adjustable jet under the funny looking cap on the carb?

I didn't know they came with a fixed jet carb, I had the old 490 here which is the samw
saw, both jets adjustable, no restrictors on mine, sold it like a clown, so no idea what carb it had.
@fordf150 any idea what carb came on the 488, was it before the Echo marriage.

Less concerned about that one.

So far I have had good luck with the echo and shindaiwa saws, even the CS352 had adjustable jets.

So I see that partstree has TWO carbs for it.
I just clicked on the 1st one and didnt see the 2nd one.
Guess I will keep an eye out. Rather not pay $65 for a carb just yet.

Wore out?, or abused?, mine were all new, so no issues with them.
My 490 was an early one, no restrictions I recall in the muffler, the next
one had some EU / EPA sticker on them, so I would assume they were more
bagged up.
My next will be the Echo 620 or 621.

Got them all as non running parts saws.
The 300s was the nicest one, just missing a few parts.
Got 2 352s not sure what is up with them, but there is at least 1 complete one there.

I might do the 300s next. Should just need a carb rebuilt and put back together.
Super small saw for a split mag case.

I just finished rebuilding a carb on a 488. This one has adjustable low jet but not the high

Looked at my 352s last night. They were both more complete than I thought. Aside from a bent up muffler and cracked clutch cover, I almost have 2 complete saws.

I’m not positive but I think the 488s with silver top handle are non adjustable and the ones with a black top handle are fully adjustable.

What plug do you use in your 488? I'm using NGK BPMR7A, but apparently the 'R' type can give the saw issues.
