I picked up a Shindaiwa 577 at a garage sale. It's in pretty rough shape. After some carb and fuel line work, I got it running. Yay! Now I'm trying to figure out what's going on with the bar and chain. It's got a 72-link 3/8 pitch chain on a 20-ish inch bar. The chain is too loose even with the tensioner maxed out. Measuring the chain, it doesn't seem to be stretched. I suspect this combo isn't "correct" for this saw. There is some identification on the bar that reads "2058 8858 TN Made in Canada". So far I've been unable to figure out what that is. Is it possible that this particular bar should have a 70 link chain not 72?

I'm open to buying a new bar & chain set. The manual for the 577/577P (now 20 years old) recommends the Oregon 7963D-20 bar with the 77SL-72X chain. Oregon's website doesn't have any support info for those. I'm unsure what I need. Any help would be appreciated.
