Well my local shop gave me a great deal to try out the shindawa 358 top handle climbibg saw.
I fell for the same crab when he sold me a top handle echo.
Echo garbage.
I got this groundsman guy that I don't know how destroys every saw he tries.
Lightbold came on and decided to take her for a test run.
First test the drop test.
I climbed a 65 ft slash pine and dropped it from like 55ft.
No damages what so ever.
Sent the rope back down and dropped it again.
No damages.
I'm like ok.
Sec test.
The slam dunk.
I grabbed the saw and threw it from 20 feet in the back of my truck.
No damage
Wtf?
At this point I'm about to grad the darn saw and hit it against the concrete.
But that usually doesn't happen.
So to the next test.
Palm tree coco.
Took the saw on a job to drop some palm trees.
Kind of felt heavy during the climb but maybe that was me.
Cold start from the tree.
No it doesn't start at first pull.
I took 4 pulls to get the hesitation and 2 pulls to start.
The pull start isn't bad at all.
Light enough.
I'm like. Ok
It's not a stihl.
Warmed it up.
Chain break is good.
D ring is good.
Rev it up started cutting.
Cuts good.
But then again it's a palm tree.
Now time for the cutting power.
Start rigging.
Notch cut good
Back cut good.
Little red got power.
Bucking did good.

Pros: get a stihl lol. Oils good, good power, good ergonomics, good d ring and muffler cover design., good chain break, Better then any echo.

Cons: never starts at first pull, tensioner some how the chain kept going ltitle lose, not good balance.

Overall
The chainsaw isn't that bad given the price it retails for.
Had it for 3 months now.
Still running.
Given that I let groundy destroyer use it.
My opinion is that it will be a good beginner climbing saw.
Or backup saw.
Not bad at all shindawa.
Looks like they could be heading in the right direction.

ummmm maybe im wrong but that sure does look just like an echo cs355t to me.......

here we go....

Shin has released a new top handle range recently, the 26cc class looks pretty neat on paper...specs are good. I think they are trying hard in this market.
is the 26 cc a copy of echos cs 271 t ? or something new?

Echo?
Echo vs polan or craftsman.
.......maybe a valid point.
First of all if you areally doing tree work with echo my hats off to you.
I rather prune a tree with my silky handsaw then a echo saw

I own Stihl /echo/husqvarna and poulan Since you did not read my post i will just say it the Shindaiwa you like is an echo... Have you great Weekend.

Well let me clearly express my apologies and give you my experience with echo.
First just because it's made by echo doesn't mean it is made with the same specifications.
Being that there is copy rights and rnd that are specific to each brand blah blah blah etc etc.
If YAMABIKO owns echo or distribution or what ever makes you say that echo owns shindawa you probably know more then me.
If this saw does the same thing as that pos echo I will do the same thing to it as those echos.
....
Now.
Don't remember the number of the echo top handle I was given to try.
Let me be clear because I don't remember time or how long it lasted because all I want is to forget that pos of saw.
first it was a there pull start.
Not bad.
But somehow the more time passed the longer it took to start.
Now I run non ethanol and echo 2 cycle mix.
Stihl bar oil.
Every end of the day I have my neighbor which I pay him the clean the saws I use and been doing so for me for over 15 years.
Just so we are clear.
One day I had a slash pine removal and the tree was like a 75 footer.
I arrived to the job side and started by tighten the chain and sharpen it.
Put my fuids in.
Prime and pull.
Pull pull pull pull.
No hesitation so I was afraid of flooding it.
Took off the choke.
Pull pull pull pull pull.
10 mins later I got the hesitation.
Pull pull pull pull
20 mins later it finally started.
By then I didn't had enough strength to climb.
I sweating exhausted and all ready drank 3 bottles of water.
I look at the tree and looked at that darn saw and went home.
The next day same thing.
By the time I got it statted I was so furious I took the darn saw and smashed it against the ground until it was in pieces.
Weed eaters edges same thing.
Maybe it's me.
But I garantee you that I have never had that issue with my husky or stihl.
I hate echo.
Because I had no productivity with them.
So with all due respect.
I see some one unloading echo I just start lol.
Because I remember my echo saws.
I remember my economy weed eaters.
I remember my economy edgers.
Echo is the reason my life was so tuff at the beginning of my business expansion.
So with all due respect.
Screw echo.
I don't care if today this saws are awesome.
