We have an extra pump from a plow and was wondering how it would work on a log splitter any advice?

Would it work , yes, but as the flow is very small it would take in excess of 5 minutes for a full 24" stroke on a 4" cylinder. Snowplow cylinders seldom exceed 2" od with a 1.25 or larger shaft and a max of 10" stroke. So even with the small flow rate they operate fairy quickly. They also only run about 2000 psi or less. The pumps are not designed for constant running either. The pump motor will burn out long before you get much done. Additionally the motors suck a ton of current at 12v dc which is why we use 2,3,4 gauge cables for them.
