Sprocket question-362

Is there any legit reason that someone would put a .325/9 pin sprocket on a 362? I bought one from a buddy and that is what was on it. He did not put it on there, but the guy he got it from did and was supposedly a dealer. It is now back to 3/8-7, with a new 20-inch Stihl bar on it. Great saw, but I thought that it was odd that anyone would do that.

Just trying to get the chain speed up to match the power of the saw, it's good for zipping through branches. You did right by converting it to 3/8

That .325 9t sprocket is a special asseccory for Scandinavia.

9t may have have been the only choice to run .325. The inside radius is too big to make a 7 or 8t rim for a regular 7-spline drum. I ran into that on a 357 and had to change to a small 7 drum.

I tried both recently on my 362 both with 20” bars. The 7t 3/8 i liked much more. Lost all the torque with the 9t .325. They dont make a smaller rim for the .325
