Square grind ?

I know that this thread is old, but I recently square-filed the chain on my MS361 (a 59cc machine), and out it up against my friend's MS381 (a 72cc machine). We ripped through some freshly felled Bluegum boughs about 8 inches in diameter. My 361 came out tops on each occasion! And that was only a first attempt at square filing! I've since improved a lot, and can't wait to test it again!

So yes, any size saw can benefit from a square grind - and it cuts butter-smoothly!!!

I agree. But since in that test with 8" diameter wood a bigger saw isnt necessarily going to cut faster. a 50cc saw could hang with either of those saws in that small of wood. Put the 361 and the 381 in a 28" log with longer bars and report back. Or dont because I already know who's going to win that race. Raker height plays a big factor as well.
