Might be something real simple. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

242 XP runs and idles fine, but when I apply the chain brake the engine instantly dies. Chain isn't running whilst idle, but dies everytime I apply the brake?

Not the biggest problem in the World, but it is annoying.

Kinda strange.Maybe you sholud check the sprocket bearing and if the surface on which the bearing run is not damaged..I think another thing, could you have a lot of play on the crankshaft?

Had the same problem about ten years ago, but my memory isn't what it used to be. I think a new drum and bearing cured it. I think it was jamming into the clutch making the saw stall.

Okay, I admit it, I'm only posting to put it back on top to see if anyone else has any suggestions as to what might be wrong :)
