I bought the saw a couple weeks back for 30 bucks I got it running and used it a couple of times but it just really dirty and grimy I should have took before pictures but I sat and soaked everything and cleaned it all up and got all the crap off of it and now I'm going through the carburetor cuz it runs a little funky

Pretty zippy little saws actually when theyre running right. Hope that your oiler works, i think parts are NLA.
It runs when it wants. Missing a few screws for the starter cover. The carb is a junk walbr0 with no high idle. I took the bottom off and it looked great. Sprayed compressed air. Re assembled still runs when it feels like it. Dumped the gas. Put it on the shelf. I'll deal with it later but piston looks good so I'm sure its just the carburetor

Ok .. I got the saw from a guy that just gets saws from a landscaping company and tries to flip them so I'm not surprised it says walbro on one side of the carburetor and stihl on the other.
Yeah I was surprised how clean the piston looked. So I wonder can I get like a cheap $15 carburetor online I heard they have them

I love my little 011avt. Very similar saws. One thing i hate is how the clutch cover just lets chips right into the cylinder area. Very poor design i think. Unless my saw is missing something why would you want to allow chips to flow into the cylinder/muffler area. My saw is very picky about tank vent being clear. Just a little clogged up with dust around it and it leans out. (Grub screw style. Tomorrpw im putting in a echo style vent capsule. Hoping for it to work sweet like it has on every other puece of O P E.

where is the tank vent on this thing.
Also the throttle trigger mechanism doesn't seem to want to work right I don't know if I have it in there wrong or something

Mine has a second fuel line that comes out the top left corner of the carb box/ tank and wraps over the top on the carb and tucks in a hole in the top right carb box area.

Mine too. I see fuel spurting u evenly near brass part near opening of carb when saw is running. I have the low screw out one turn and just for laughs and Giggles I held the throttle all the way and the sauce started and that's when I was watching it do that but it's not an even spray

I think its a walbro wt323..... and i dont think they make a clone for it.... but if that carb fits im sure there could be one that would work maybe an 021 carb ....post the carb thats on it and some of these gurus will be able to tell you what carb may work..... or find an old oem one online or at a shop and rebuild it....you definitely want to be able to adjust it....

I downloaded the manual and that is the carburetor that came with it it has no provision to adjust the high

I just looked it up as every one i have ever owned or seen had both... however it looks like they made some with no high set screw....In my opinion i wont own a saw i cant adjust the high... if it were my saw i would buy an old oem carb that has both high and low....was just trying to be of help.... good luck with the saw....

Might be a problem with your reed valve if you cleaned and rebuilt the carb ....I dislike saws or blowers with out a high screw... you have to mess with the metering lever to get them right and its a pain in the ass....

There's a brass plug where it would be

How do you tell if there's a problem with the red valve?

Saw still giving me trouble. I notice black gas dripping out muffler area. Had it running but couldn't get the thing to idle right. I guess the carburetor must be flooding out and puking gas out the muffler and turning it black as it drips out?

I used one for around the yard and trimming in the orchard. Not one of stihl's nicest but works well when running right. I had the one with the bigger piston (38mm) and power was decent.

Certainly a strange setup for the oiler. Parts are still available but might want to get spares before they dry up.

The later Walbro WT-323 carburetors for 009 and 010 had only the low speed screw (think for emissions reasons), but if yours has a brass plug in place of the high speed screw it may be someone messed with the carb. Like lost the high speed screw and just plugged the hole. With the plug there would no fuel flow control at high speed. It would be like the high speed screw was turned out all the way and the saw would run really rich like you say, even puke gas like you say.

There are used rebuildable Walbro carbs for 009L, 011 and 012's on the giant auction site. Almost all the used Walbro carbs there are WT-29a's. The 009 and 010 WT-323 carb had a smaller air inlet than the WT-29A carb on the 009L, 011 and 012. You might be able to use a WT-29A carb on a 009 with a higher idle speed. Would suggest avoiding Zama carb for these saws.

I have only one 009, and about 7 40.8cc 009L's (with 2 having the 40mm cylinders for 45cc displacement, lots of fun)

Stihl 024 to 048 even numbers, 08s's, S10's, TS350, and the 009L's
