The Stihl design with the inboard clutch makes it difficult to dissipate excess heat. A sharp chain and ample bar oil will help to prevent overheating.

The only problem with the oiler part is that the newer homeowner grade Stihls have non-adjustable oilers that consistently under supply the bar and chain. I'm always running a dry chain with my brand new MS291 and there's no way around it.
