Picked up a Stihl 024 Today. It needs a top cover. Did some research and I think it is an early model with the one bar nut and the slotted stud and front tensioner. Wanting to know what the top cover should say (024 AV, 024 wood boss). Got it running and gave $25 for it.

Clutch cover sticker looks like the sticker for Wood Boss. Check the "chainbrake", if it doesn't have an actual working brake, then Wood Boss.

Guess the clutch cover sticker don't mean a thing, see photo*. Would make it an 024AV, since yours has the metal clutch cover
and early vent.

*Cribbed this off you-know-where, later plastic cover but still an "024AV".

Here's my 024AV, ...didn't get used much.

I'd suggest removing the slotted stud and replacing it with a regular bar stud.
Got the top cover in. Matches pretty good. When I sell the little poulan 2000 I got with the 024 I will have exactly $0 in the 024!
