Hi all!
I'm working on Stihl 024AV, which is about 20 years old according serial number. Saw has not been used a lot and it's new for me, so I don't know the history and how it has been. I'm wondering what is the reason for bad alignment between the tank housing and motor unit. There is three rubber mounts keeping them together and I think one of the bottom rubber mounts has swollen or somehow changed it's dimensions. I have looked images of other 024AV saws and they have quite even gaps between tank housing and motor unit.
Below you can see how uneven the gap between upper cover and carburetor cover is. I have verified that carb cover is properly placed.
Below is just side view of the saw, upper cover should be in place.
Below you can see how gap near front mount is way larger than rear mount area. And there is not too much clearance between tank housing and oil gap area.
I have checked the upper mount and it seems to be fine. The bottom rubber mounts are very soft and I even checked that they are in the groove, so they should be in proper place. They both had number 1121, so they at least have correct model number. Have you seen swollen mounts? Do you have any other ideas what could cause this?
Thanks,
Wictor
