Stihl 046 Magnum runs perfect then randomly dies

Do any of you guys have any experience with these 046/ms460 carbs. Looks like the HD-14c and HD-16c are both available. Also a HD-17D Is one better than the other?

Absolutely, I try to buy all oem. Especially on stuff like carbs, seals, rubber parts. I just seen i can get all three different ones oem and wasn't sure which to go with.

I was kind of curious about the 17, because it only popped up a couple times. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Being you work on these all the time if it was yours what would be your call, a carb or the jet?

I'm not holding you to anything just curious if it was yours what route you would take. I have had quite a few carbs on different stuff over the last few years that just seem to be hard to get right again. Its always on stuff I buy not running or found in the garbage families stuff etc. So I don't the history but still, I can't belive what ethanol amd lack of maintenance does to stuff.
