Was one of the 600 series saws originally met as a stump cutting saw with a heavier crankshaft etc??

064??
066??
650??

I recall hearing this sum 10 years ago sometime lol??

Dunno but 660s stump down pretty well.

It would seem like one of those old torque monsters like an 070 would be nice.

Stumping is sort of a secondary feature of a saw so I would find it unlikely any had any specific features built into it for stumping that would not primarily serve as an advantage to bucking or falling. It would seem any advantages to stumping would be mutually beneficial to any other cutting.

Now if they designed it so you could get closer to the ground that would be something. Carbide chain helps too.

Some of those saws had problems with the flywheel sheering the crank shaft because it was a little slender. The late models had poly flywheels that were lighter on the 066, maybe the others did as well.

056 magnum or 076 would also do most jobs. I like having a chain brake though. Half wrap handle and good dogs are pretty important too.
