So I recently bought a Stihl 084 for a decent price and have been doing some work to it. When I got the saw it it about ripped my arm off trying to start. I think the coil was going bad and timing started to advance? Or there was too much fuel in the cylinder. The time I did get it started it backfired out the carb. Compression seems decent at 140 psi. So I tore it all the way down to the crank case. This is what I have done so far :
new oem :
Carb kit
Inner/outer fuel line &connector
Impulse line
Fuel filter
Umbrella valve
Upper av mount (used)
Decompression valve
Ignition coil 660 unlimited conversion
Crank seals
I cleaned the cylinder and piston up and going to reuse the rings. I’m patiently waiting on crank seals to throw everything back together.
