What is the bore and stroke of the Stihl 090 chainsaw ?
I think the capacity was 136cc ....

Thanks,

Much appreciated.

Wonder if one could use that barrel and piston on a 084 as a race saw setup ..... mmmm - now there is an idea :dizzy:

I know what your thinking

They are torque monsters and would have no problem pulling chips with a 6' bar. You would never be able to get one to run with your 084/088. They just dont have the capability to run the rpm's and if you can get it turned up it wont spin up as quick. Stick with the 120cc saws.

mmmm - dam - it was just so tempting , thinking that the 084 has a bore of 60mm and a stroke of 43mm, the 090 has a bore of 66mm and a stroke of 40mm

so use the 090 piston and barrel - rise the barrel 1.5mm to compensate for the longer stroke - drop the exhaust and transfer 1.5mm to also adjust, cut 1.5mm of the piston intake skirt - and there you have a 147cc saw :jawdrop:

So you saying it is the extra weight on the piston that will stop it from revving ? Or is it just the ports that flow badly ? Can porting sort it out or is it just a bad design ?
