Stihl fs91r trimmer

Brand new and wont start cold by following the manuals instructions. Pump five times and choke on cold and nothing. Only way im getting it to start is to holding throttle trigger while pulling the cord. Also brother said at WOT its making popping sound. I believe that would be the rev limiter kicking in, correct? Only happens WOT no load. Any info would be great, Thanx

Brand new? Take it back.

Don't know if you know this or not so don't take offense. The 91r is a 4 cycle engine. Does not Rev anywhere near a 2 cycle trimmer.
It will hit the Rev limiter well before one would expect if they thought it was a 2 cycle.

As to the cold start I agree with above. If brand new take it back. That thing should start and purr in 2-3 pulls tops. Mine always has.

Take it back. That is what warranty is for. Should be a easy starting unit.
