Little double dipping here........posted this in milling also.
Bar will be for milling.

Looks as if I am going to bite the bullet and
buy MS880..........Stihl 59" bar will and $200
or so to price of saw over a 41" bar. Plus
what ever 3/8 sprocket nose cost to change
it over from .404 chain

Cannon 60" 3/8 bar $370 plus shipping.

So...........what would you get, Stihl or Cannon Bar?

Thanks
Gary

After sleeping on it.........41" bar now and add longer bar later.

If you're making slab tables, yes, you'll need a big bar. 99% of my cuts are with a 27" bar. If you're making 12" boards, then 27" is generally over kill. Most cants don't need more than 27" to create - 27" will make a cant from 40"+ tree, and those are pretty rare for me.

OK, I'm from the UK where the trees are small, I admit it..... :)
