Stihl side cover

I was just wondering the other day about the differences between the orginial side cover and the large side cover. Does one work better than the other? Does it really matter?

I don't believe they help much if at all. I asked a similar question a while back and was told the larger cover won't help clear when noodling. Just what I was told.

I know when my dad was logging they used large side covers but I'm not sure exactly why. The only thing I can see that is better about the large cover is the dust flap the directs sawdust but even at that the orginial cover works well too
