Sweetgum

I started on an odd sweetgum butt log today. When my wife saw it she said, and I quote, "That's mine!"

I only got the top cant and one slab off today. The next two will be the best. More pics to come.

As you can see it's actually two trees grown together. They will probably fall apart when they dry but it's nothing a little epoxy won't fix.

Then you can add the cool fancy inlaid butterfly braces.

Too bad sweetgum often has such a small heartwood. In some cases almost none at all like the log I milled last fall that was almost all pure white. This one is beautiful aggie. Good luck with the drying part.

Most likely they will (you must have missed this in the origional post).

Probably about a year. Just depends on weather a such.

Finished up milling this sweetgum last night. I just need to add some stickers and weight.
