I started on an odd sweetgum butt log today. When my wife saw it she said, and I quote, "That's mine!":):)

I only got the top cant and one slab off today. The next two will be the best. More pics to come.

As you can see it's actually two trees grown together. They will probably fall apart when they dry but it's nothing a little epoxy won't fix.
 
Too bad sweetgum often has such a small heartwood. In some cases almost none at all like the log I milled last fall that was almost all pure white. This one is beautiful aggie. Good luck with the drying part.

That is a beautiful tree Aggie, great to see some pics of a finished product too, nice work.
 
That's going to look great with some finish on it.

How long will you have to dry it before using?
