I have several mature Sycamore trees in my yard. I live in northern middle tennessee, and the summer has been relatively cool and wet. About 2 days ago the trees began shedding an unusually large amount of bark. I know that sycamores are somewhat messy trees and often shed bark, but they are just raining bark. The leaves appear healthy and unstressed. There was some construction around the trees last summer, and a few inches of dirt was placed over some of the roots.

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks!

If it has been cool and wet the trees have probably been growing an unusually large amount-which would promote the loss of lots of bark scales.
